Bitly is a URL shortening service and a link management platform. The company Bitly, Inc., was established in 2008. It is privately held and based in New York City. Bitly shortens 600 million links per month, for use in social networking, SMS, and email. Bitly makes money by charging for access to aggregate data created as a result of many people using the shortened URLs.

A disappointed customer shared this on TrustRadius "DO NOT USE Bitly before you read this. Unethical Company. They are holding an issue of ours hostage to get us to upgrade to enterprise level. Horrible Customer Service - They do not care about their customers. No help was given to solve our problems. Very Expensive - Compared to other solutions you are paying much more for Bitly. Also they only offer a complete solution at the highest paid tiers. We had an issue where we need to redirect a link and they would not allow us unless we upgraded to Enterprise level (Over $15,000 USD a year) Bad features - They've taken basic level features and hid them from standard paid tiers, forcing you to upgrade to fix your problems".

"I paid for the basic package, at several hundred a year. I thought that would allow me to get in contact with some kind of support. there is no phone number to call. You are stuck using a messaging system, to which it took them 6 days to respond to. The user interface was not the easiest or most intuitive to use. So I made a few mistakes, which cost me my limited redirects (1 a month). I only needed the service to get 2 custom links. To which I am now stuck. The custom links I am currently paying are unusable and unable to be fixed according to their customer support unless im willing to pay $6000. They just told me there is nothing I can do except go back to the messaging board and ask for help. They refused to get me on the phone with a support person. I messaged them back at 11am begging for help, then recieved a message the next day (during normal operating hours) That I contacted them outside their normal operating hours and they would be reaching back out to me. How can a tech company have their tech so messed up."

"Really disappointed in We went on a paid plan in order to have branded short links where we could change the destination URL. Halfway through our yearly plan they have changed their terms and now you can only edit 1 URL per month. They have also put in restrictions on how many times you can edit the back half of a link."
